About Sarah

Originally from Dannevirke, Wellington comic, Sarah Harpur, began her career in stand up in 2008. Tackling pressing social issues like cannibalism and cat abortion, she quickly made her mark on the local comedy scene.

Sarah is also a budding rock god who will delight meat eaters and vegans alike with her musical numbers, and occasionally time-travels between various dimensions, particularly, the year 4542.

Sarah has performed her unique style of comedy at the Adelaide, NZ, Dunedin and Edinburgh Fringe Festivals.

In 2017, Sarah completed her Master’s in Scriptwriting from IIML at Victoria University. She is currently focusing on screenwriting and novels for children.  Yes.  That is correct. For impressionable children.

“Harpur’s material is outstanding. It’s complex, funny, rich in great jokes but it also deepens deceptively. It’s the clarity that fools you, a bit like New Zealand rivers used to do. And it gets funnier as it gets deeper.”
– Michael Gilchrist – Theatreview

“Every joke hits the mark, she is in control and she knows it.”
– Maryanne Cathro – Theatreview

“an indomitable bundle of enthusiasm”

“Sarah Harpur brings an infectious, slightly clownish glee to her roles.”
